Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Dec 30, 2023 2:44PM PST

Hello Everyone,

Please see the attached calendar for practices held in January.  Note that there are a number of schedule changes due to the High School home meets.

Thank you to those of you who have signed up to volunteer at our upcoming away meets at Dover and Bobcat!  There are still some positions available!  See the sign-up sheet here Remember each family needs to volunteer 3 times in order for your swimmer to be able to participate in the Divisional swim meets.

Please let us know if you have any questions.  Happy New Year!

No practice today! and other reminders

Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Dec 21, 2023 10:34AM PST

Team,

No practice tonight due to HS meet! Please check the calendar for December that was sent in the beginning of the month, we had swimmers show up on deck during the high school meet last week. If any level 2 swimmers are interested in timing today, we are short 2 timers, please have them come on deck no later than 4:15pm, meet starts at 4:30pm.

Next week we are holding practices on December 27th and December 28th, ALL AGES PRACTICE 6:30pm – 8:00pm… again, ALL AGES, starting at 6:30pm, not 5:30pm!

After Christmas break, we are starting January with our 1650 Fundraiser…. what is that you ask? Swimmers are attempting (and succeeding!) to swim 66 laps (1650 yards, also known as the swimmer’s mile) and in return, family, friends, neighbors pledge money either per mile or as a donation. This fundraiser will help cover the costs of two scholarships we award each year to two Spring Grove HS seniors that were affiliated with the swim club. Also, top 3 fundraising swimmers will receive awards for raising the most money for the club.

See attached pledge form – just in time for the holidays when the kids are meeting family members to ask for pledges :)

Signup sheet to pick a spot when to swim the 1650 can be found HERE. We reserve the right to combine some of the slots into earlier ones to fill up the lanes; we will contact you if that will happen.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Good morning everyone,

Great job on the volunteer signups, we appreciate all your help more than you know!

Food donations are still needed – snack bags, nacho chips, fruits, veggies, sliced ham, hot dogs, sliced cheese and taco meat. Whatever is not filled by 1pm today, the club will have to purchase which will cut into our profits. The concession income is our only revenue throughout the season, the more we profit, the more we’re gonna be able to provide extra activities for the kids at the end of season, gifts and keep the registration costs low.

Please consider helping – SIGNUP IS HERE

See you all tomorrow morning bright and early!

Thanks,
Gabi Calugar

Weekend Meets

Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Dec 13, 2023 6:20PM PST

Details for this weekend’s HOME meet, Seahorse/HY @ SGSC:

Saturday, December 16, 2023
Swimmer report time: 7:10 AM
Meet Start Time: 8:30 AM

It is essential that all swimmers remain seated on deck with the team. We ask that they do not sit with spectators during the meet as we will be unable to locate them for line-ups. Swimmers may not stay in the stands with their families. We will not look for them, and they will miss their events.

Please notify the Club if a swimmer is unable to attend the meet on Saturday. The earlier the notice the better, as relays will likely need to be modified. Swimmers also need to stay until the end of the meet unless cleared with Coach Brian or Coach Theldred . Even if their events are finished, they may still be needed for a last-minute change to the lineup. The team also needs to assist with cleaning the deck before leaving.

Be aware of a severe peanut allergy. Snacks must be nut-free.

Please also be aware that those who signed up to volunteer in the concession stand for first half of the meet must report by 7:10 to help with preparations.

The custodians ask that swimmers and unattended children do not ride the elevator.

We still need a few volunteer spots filled and concession items donated.  Click here to access the sign-up sheet.

Details for Jingle Bell Splash:

Northeastern High School
300 High Street
Manchester, PA

Sunday, December 17, 2023
Swimmer Report Time is 8:10
Warm-Up Time: 8:20-8:40

Please remember to bring chairs and a blanket as we will be seated in the gym. Adults MUST supervise your own children.

Thank you,
SGSC

Level 2 swimmers,

The high school team needs 3 more timers to help at the meet tomorrow. If any of the kids are interested, please let us know. They need to be on deck between 4-4:15pm, meet starts at 4:30pm and will finish around 7ish, with a large break for the timers in the middle while diving takes place.
