Summer swim season starts tomorrow!!

Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Apr 28, 2024 5:56PM PDT

Team,

Long awaited email… the days are just flying by!!

Tomorrow is the official start of summer swim season. We will have parents meeting on Thursday, 5/2 at 5:30pm in the classroom by the shallow end of the pool – all parents are invited to attend, rookies and veterans; it’s always good to have a refresher especially since we changed some of the requirements to be a part of the club in winter season. Information about equipment, suits, caps, concessions and meet protocol will be shared.

Practice schedule:

Level 1 Monday through Thursday 5-6 pm
Level 2 Monday through Thursday 6-7:30pm
Level 3 Monday through Thursday 7:30-9:00pm

We will add Fridays practices for level 2 and level 3 (we are trying to add them starting 5/10 pending coaches availability)

Level 3 5:00-6:30pm
Level 2 6:30-7:30pm

Please see attached meet schedule and parents handbook that will give more details as far as swimmers and parents expectations, what to bring for practices and meets etc.

If you have any questions, please email the club at sgswimclub@gmail.com

USA Swimming Information

Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Apr 27, 2024 6:52PM PDT

Good evening swim families,

I wanted to reach out tonight with some additional information about the USA Swimming program that we are starting this summer.  When you registered your swimmer, there was a checkbox to indicate if you were interested in receiving more information about this program.  Since registration opened, several people have reached out to let me know that they checked the incorrect box or missed the option entirely.  To make sure everyone who is interested has the information I’m simply sending out to everyone.  Please see the attached document for a summary of the program.

If your swimmer is interested and planning on attending, please fill out the form here . Remember, this is a completely optional additional opportunity.  If it does not sound like something you would be interested in, then you don’t need to do anything at all.

Thank you all, I’m looking forward to the official start of the summer season this week!

Coach Brian

Team,

Summer swim season registration is now open! Click to register HERE

Practices will start Monday, April 29. Practice schedule looks a bit different this season than before since we have a lot of high schoolers and some college students joining us. We created a new level for them, level 3 (open to incoming HS freshmen and older swimmers only). The other two levels have the same criteria as before.

Schedule is as follows:
Level 1 – Monday through Thursday 5:00-6:00 pm
Level 2 – Monday through Thursday 6:00-7:30 pm
Level 3 – Monday through Thursday 7:30-9:00pm

We are adding Fridays practices for level 2 and level 3 only – times to be announced.

Please use the same level as swimmers were in past season, unless you received a separate email from us advising they can move up a level.

If there are any siblings who have not swim with us in the past, they MUST attend tryouts to determine if they are ready to join the competitive swim club or need to stay in swim lessons and what level they would be in. Tryouts are taking place April 24th and 25th 6:00 – 6:30pm. Sign up attached HERE

Meet schedule is attached HERE. Save the meet and championship dates in the calendar. SGSC is hosting AA Divisional this season and possibly All Star, more details to come after league meeting on May 6

Splash in the Grove is coming back for the second edition of June 2, this invitational will count towards attending 1 meet for Divisional purposes when planning your summer. Parents also save the date in your calendars, we will need lots of help running this meet and that will count towards your volunteer requirements as well.

Parents meeting to be determined, more details will follow as we approach the beginning of season.

Lastly, new this season – coach Brian is now a USA swimming certified coach. What that means is that he can now take swimmers that are registered with USA swimming to USA swimming meets (outside regular SGSC swim meets schedule – additional fees are involved). There is a question on the registration asking if you are interested in getting more details on this subject. We will gladly give more details to those interested.

If any questions, email the club directly at sgswimclub@gmail.com

Peggy Kile updates

Posted by Spring Grove Swim Club at Mar 6, 2024 12:28PM PST

As some of you may know, Peggy Kile who was SGSC head coach for many years until she retired in 2017, is going through a liver transplant in Pittsburgh. Surgery took place on Monday and went fairly well but she still needs a lot of machines and medications to keep her organs working.

The recovery will be long, her husband is staying in Pittsburgh all this time. If any of you wants to send them well wishes, here is the address where to send:

Family House
5308 Liberty Ave
C/O Peggy Kile
Room 319
Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Please keep her and her family in your prayers!!
